We aimed to showcase the full capabilities of robust 10G networking paired with a cutting-edge CPU. The CCR2116-12G-4S+ eliminates CPU bottlenecks in your setup. Like its impressive predecessor, the CCR2004, this router is powered by the powerful Amazon Annapurna Labs Alpine CPU. Boasting 16 cores operating at 2 GHz, this CCR leaves its predecessor in the dust. We’re seeing a substantial increase in single-core performance - at least 15% - which is critical for demanding tasks that rely on processing each connection individually, like managing queues. The CCR2116-12G-4S+ sets a new benchmark for single-core prowess in the entire CCR family, and as a bonus, it also supports Layer 3 Hardware Offloading! To fully leverage this performance, you’ll need suitable connectivity options. There are four 10G SFP+ ports, each with a dedicated, full-duplex link to the Marvell Aldrin switch chip. Additionally, twelve Gigabit Ethernet ports are routed through the Marvell chip, and a separate Gigabit Ethernet port is directly connected to the CPU for management functions. Each group of 4 ports enjoys a dedicated, full-duplex link to the switch chip, eliminating bottlenecks and ensuring switch-like throughput in most configurations. The cutting-edge processor delivers astonishing performance. Compared to the CCR1036, a powerhouse with 36 cores, the new CCR2116 easily doubles or even exceeds its performance, despite having only 16 cores. If you’re a larger ISP handling dynamic routing, extensive BGPs, complex firewall rules, and sophisticated QoS configurations, this is the router for you. It combines raw power and versatility with reliable 10G networking. And, as expected from an ISP-grade device, we’ve included a dual-redundant power supply for worry-free operation.
