Similar to its siblings in the CCR2004 series, this CCR also employs the Annapurna Labs Alpine v2 CPU, a powerhouse boasting four 64-bit ARMv8-A Cortex-A57 cores running at 1.7GHz. However, this router distinguishes itself through exceptional single-core performance, surpassing all prior CCR models. This is critical for handling demanding tasks that rely on per-connection processing, such as queue management. Moreover, this CCR leads the pack with unparalleled single-core and overall performance per watt amongst all CCR devices. This translates to a double victory: reduced environmental impact and lower energy costs. This new router features a comprehensive selection of 18 wired ports, comprising 16 Gigabit Ethernet ports and two 10G SFP+ cages, complemented by a RJ-45 console port conveniently located on the front panel. Housed in a classic white 1U rackmount case, a hallmark of all CCR devices, it includes built-in dual redundant power supplies for enhanced reliability, along with active cooling to maintain optimal operating temperatures. Internally, each group of 8 Gigabit Ethernet ports connects to a dedicated Marvell Amethyst family switch-chip, each with a 10 Gbps full-duplex line linked to the CPU. The SFP+ cages enjoy the same configuration, each boasting a separate 10 Gbps full-duplex line. The boards are equipped with 4GB of DDR4 RAM and 128MB of NAND storage. As you can see, there’s no bottleneck here. As long as the CPU keeps up, all ports can hit their maximum speed. And this CPU is a powerhouse, capable of handling heavy loads. Performance-wise, it’s on par with our CCR1009, and even outperforms it in CPU-intensive scenarios. Impressively, it can even match the performance of the CCR1016. The most appealing aspect? This cutting-edge CCR stands out as one of the most budget-friendly choices available, not just within the CCR series, but also in the broader market. A typical use case for this device involves utilizing the Gigabit Ethernet ports for the internal network, while the SFP+ ports handle downlink and uplink connectivity. It’s the ideal all-in-one solution for small and medium-sized businesses, offering both simplicity and effectiveness. The new CCR2004 empowers you to elevate your office network to new heights, all without straining your budget.
